The type species of the genus is Kalanchoe laciniata. The subshrubs reach heights of 20 to 50 centimetres. It is evergreen. The dark-green, simple leaves are opposite. They are linear, entire and sessile. It produces panicles of erect, pink cruciform flowers. The subshrubs produce follicles.
